The sensors are
optical flame flicker monitors mainly used to in power plant
applications. The sensors will indicate if the flame is present
and provide an indication of combustion quality.
The sensors
respond to low frequency (1 to 40Hz) flickering infra-red (IR)
or visible radiation emitted from flames during combustion.
Flame flicker techniques enable the sensor to continue to
view the flame even through a film of thick film of oil, dust,
vapour or ice the sensor optics.
The flicker
frequency readings are very irregular and so a running average
of the frequency is produced and displayed. The averaged flicker
frequency value is then compared with the pre-set thresholds to
determine if the flame is Stable, Unstable or Out. Relay
contacts are available and can be selected to indicate the flame
and sensor status. The proportional 4 to 20mA (24Vdc 2wire)
flame flicker output signal is also available.
